GameSpy Previews Chaos Rising

Anthony Gallegos and Ryan Scott from GameSpy have posted their tag team preview of Chaos Rising from their hands on time with the game. The two writers, one familiar with WH40k and the other not so much, both found the fun in playing the campaign scenarios:

"I still had my favorite commanders, and struggled to keep them alive over the tanks. I know I'll be even more attached when I play the retail version, as the expansion allows me to use my already-leveled-up characters from the original campaign (pre-leveled characters will be provided for new players). Combine this with the fact that the level cap is raised from 20 to 30 and I can already imagine the bedsores I'm in for." - GameSpy

Extended Community Site Maintenance 11/16

Our Dawn of War II and Company of Heroes community sites will be closed for maintenance starting at approximately 09:30 PST today (GMT-8). The sites are expected to remain closed for maintenance for the day as they are moved to new servers. Users should experience no changes when the site comes back online.

Community Scouting Report

Tournament! I hope you've all been practicing because it will soon be time to throw down.

ESL 1v1 Bloodsport Cup - Sign-ups are now open with room for 32 players in this tournament. The event will be run on November 20. The ESL is also in search of admins if anyone is interested in volunteering their time.

WCG 2010 Poll - Dawn of War II is on the ballot of games that could be included in the 2010 World Cyber Games. Please vote for it if you'd like this to happen!

1.9 Hotfix Live

The 1.9 hotfix is now live for all users of Dawn of War II. The update is approximately 336MB and addresses a number of bugs and balance issues, including the Last Stand level reset bug.

Patch notes

We have updated our patch notes here on the community site with two additional fixes that didn't make it into the final notes before we had to get them translated. The two additional bug fixes are:

General

  • Fixed an issue where if the game was set to remember your Multiplayer hero, it would show the selected race as Imperial Guard and then crash
  • Fixed an issue where the World Builder crashed if a new map was created on a computer that didn't have Perforce installed

The Last Stand - Highest Score Contest

We have our winners! noorC, gayhoror, and Febertrauma's score of over 18 million has stood up as the highest score for 24 hours and has now been declared our winning entry in the highest score contest. I'm sure that anyone who has played The Last Stand will be pretty amazed by the score that these guys were able to put up. They kindly posted in the contest thread with their strategy and load outs.
