The Last Stand
The popular survival game mode from Dawn of War II, The Last Stand, is now available as a stand-alone – The Last Standalone
Last Stand Game Mode
The Last Stand is a cooperative* survival mode that lets you control a single hero unit and teams you up with two other players to battle against waves of enemies and impossible odds. As you play through games of Last Stand your hero will gain experience and level up. Leveling up adds new wargear that your hero can equip to gain access to new abilities. Higher level wargear isn’t necessarily more powerful than low level wargear, but it does give you more options on how to customize your character.
Teamwork is key to surviving against the waves of enemies you face, so when creating your team at the beginning of the match, make sure to select heroes and builds that complement each other. If one of your teammates does go down during the match, you can revive them by right clicking on their character model with the right mouse button. Your hero will then move to fallen hero and after several seconds, bring the fallen hero back to life with partial health.
*Players using The Last Standalone will only be able to match and play with users with The Last Standalone and Dawn of War II: Retribution.
Space Marine Captain
Team Role – Melee Damage, Off-Tank
The versatile Space Marine Captain is a master of the battlefield. He can lay waste to enemies with both melee and ranged weapons and has the highest capacity for health and health regeneration. He is able to take his formidable presence and throw it around, charging or jumping into the fray and knocking down enemies.
The Captain’s wargear lets him support his allies with a direct heal ability and a ranged resurrection ability. The Space Marine Captain is a juggernaut, capable of stunning,
taunting, and knocking down enemies while tearing them apart with his weapon of choice.
Team Role – Disruption, Support
Capable of dealing enormous amounts of damage, the melee oriented Farseer must get close to enemies to unleash her fury. To compliment her melee prowess, the Farseer can hit enemies from afar with pure psychic energy to rip them apart or turn them against each other, causing them to recklessly attack their comrades.
Leveraging her psychic abilities, the Farseer can shift seamlessly from slaughtering enemies to supporting allies, granting wards of invulnerability to friends in need, concealing them from view, or teleporting them out of harm’s way.
Team Role – Support, Ranged Damage
A master of utility, the Mekboy has a weapon for every occasion. The Burna scorches large groups of enemies, while the Big Shoota wears down any larger single targets. If you need more crowd control, his Rokkit Launcha keeps small clusters of enemies knocked down, while the Deffgun Dakka can lay down suppressive fire.
The Mekboy has an odd, but effective arsenal of technology to assist his allies. His Bobby Traps slow down and debilitate enemies. His Mega-Rumblah causes the earth to shake, stunning all enemies in view. His Bouncy Shield turns him, or an ally into a living bowling ball, knocking down nearby enemies and protecting allies from close-ranged attacks.
Tyranid Hive Tyrant
Team Role: Minion Class, Buffer
These gigantic creatures are often found at the core of marauding Tyranid forces, psychically directing and enhancing waves of lesser Tyranids, while demolishing the enemy with their own massive talons and bioweapons. In Last Stand, the Hive Tyrant can summon multiple Tyranid minions to its aid, to tie up and attack the enemy, along with drawing its fire away from friendly heroes. The Hive Tyrant can also buff friendly allied pets with damage and ability power upgrades. The Tyrant’s large size makes it less maneuverable than most units, but also renders it completely immune to suppression and knockback.
Team Role: Minion Cloning, Caster
Manipulative, cunning and evil, the Chaos Sorcerer supports the forces of Chaos with terrible warp powers. In Last Stand, he is capable of widespread destruction through a large variety of damaging spells that can deal significant Area of Effect damage. His orb abilities can also enhance allies within a certain area, and grant buffs such as having all of their attacks cause knockback. In addition he can create a chaotic doppelganger of the most powerful enemy squads to do his bidding and disrupt the enemy forces.
Team Role: Defensive Support, Ranged Damage
The Lord General bears absolute authority over the vast military forces of the Imperial Guard, and in the Last Stand, he is able to call upon their arrayed might. In addition to the wide variety of ranged weapons that he can wield, the Lord General also has a hand-picked squad of bodyguards and officers that he can call upon to fight at his side. He is also the only hero that can deploy a variety of permanent Turret emplacements to provide supporting fire, and call in devastating artillery ordnance barrages.
